DIABLO 3 Entry
Hello Everyone, it's been a while, now is the time for another update.
Here's my entry for diablo 3 contest.
Honestly I wanted to do something more spectacular, but due to my work, freelance deadline and some illness , this is the best that I could do. I see a lot of amazing artworks from magnificent artists that contributing to the contest and I'm very excited that a lot of my friends join the contest too. I wish them all the best of luck.
and for those who wonder how I paint , here's the process from the beginning till the finishing line.
I'll explain the process too
1. Basically, I'll start with a very rough sketch, In This stage, usually what I aim the most is to get the composition and the mood . You can see that the lighting is very-very rough here.
2. After I get the composition and overall mood, then I'll flatten all the layer and reduce the layer opacity to about 30% and add another layer to make the line. I'm the kind of guy who work best with line. I use it for guidance, but as you can see, it's not a very clean line, because i will overpaint it anyway so the most important thing here is that the line should be readable. It doesn't have to be very clean.
3. When the line is done. it's time to adjust the mood and do some rough rendering.
4. Now it's time for detailing. Sometimes in the process, changes need to be done. As you can see I change the guard into Crusader and I reduced the number from two guys to one guy only.
5. In the beginning, I thought that I want to make some cold mood with a greenish blue color, but then I realize that I need a warm color to give it balance, so I decided to give a red highlight from the diablo stone. well, actually, the glow isn't that bright, I just made it so red to attract the viewer's eye. :)
6 & 7. Just do another detailing and adding background. Just take your time and be patient with the small detail, and for the final touch, I use smart sharpen filter to make it more clear and better. I use sharpen a lot for every work that I do nowadays. It really helps to embrace the details. for the setting, just use the basic setting, reduce the radius amount to 0.8 or anything that less than 1.0 and raise the amount to at least 150 points. I use 250 points usually and press OK. That's it
Hope it helps you guys and see you in the next post :)
